The History of Raminten

Upon entering this restaurant, you will be welcomed by the statue of a middle-aged woman dressed in kebaya and jarik bottoms. This statue bears a resemblance to Raminten, the owner of this restaurant.

Raminten, or Hamzah Sulaiman, is the owner of Hamzah Batik. She received that nickname when she first began her career in a comedic ketoprak theater play.

Since then, she has been known as Raminten, a middle-aged woman who likes to dance and sing. She successfully performed as the character of Raminten in a local television show called "Pengkolan." Aside from culinary, Hamzah also has a batik store called Mirota Batik (now Hamzah Batik) in Malioboro.
