Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights Employees Sanctioned After Consuming Drugs at Hotel

PIKIRAN RAKYAT - Secretary of the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Anggoro Dasananto, stated that the State Civil Apparatus (EMPLOYEE) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights who allegedly consumed methamphetamine-type drugs with a woman in the bathroom of a hotel is currently in the process of imposing disciplinary penalties.

"The person concerned is suspected of being involved in a drug case and is currently in the process of imposing disciplinary punishment," said Anggoro in his statement quoted Thursday, June 27, 2024.

Anggoro said the employee was suspected of violating the EMPLOYEE code of ethics. According to him, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights has formed an employee discipline inspection team to examine the employee.

"The employee is indeed suspected of violating the code of ethics of the State Civil Apparatus and the DJKI has handled this case since February 2024. We have formed an employee discipline inspection team to examine the employee," said Anggoro.

Furthermore, Anggoro ensured that DJKI is committed to providing punishment to employees who are suspected of consuming methamphetamine narcotics. He said the employee will be punished by the provisions and applicable laws and regulations if proven guilty.

"DJKI is committed to providing punishment under the provisions and regulations contained in Law No. 20 of 2023 concerning the State Civil Apparatus if proven guilty," he said.

The Public Relations Working Group of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Tubagus Erif confirmed that the man in the video, who was consuming narcotics suspected to be a type of methamphetamine, is an employee of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. Previously, a video went viral on social media showing a man consuming methamphetamine with a woman in a hotel bathroom.

"Yes, that's right, that’s our staff (Ministry of Law and Human Rights)," Tubagus Erif told reporters, Wednesday, June 26, 2024.

Erif said that his party received reports about this case from the community. According to him, through the inspectorate general, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights has formed a team to examine the employee. However, it is not yet known about the results of the examination.
